Colour palettes in Macromedia Freehand

Freehand is one of the earlier drawing programs, which is especially popular on the Mac and with graphic designers. Due to diverse owner changes (Aldus, Adobe, Macromedia) Freehand can edit the AdobeColorFile-file format for colour palettes. Therefore it is very easy to work with colours in Freehand!

Using colour palettes in Macromedia Freehand

  1. Draw any object (e.g. a rectangle) in Freehand.
  2. Go to "view/ colours" (4.0) or, as the case may be "window/ colour palette" (5.0) or "window/control panel/colour palette"
  3. In the colour window go to "options" and select the desired colour component.
  4. Select the desired colours from the new selection field, and copy them in this manner into the floating colour window of the active file.
  5. You can now design with your colour palette!
